The U.S. Department of Education will launch an investigation into whether Penn State University failed to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act in response to allegations of sex offenses by former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Texas Tech administrators are promising to take action with off-campus crime.

Chancellor Kent Hance and President Guy Bailey said they are planning on implementing a special task force this fall to determine what can be done to help ensure students are educated about off-campus crime.

Texas Tech was audited by the U.S. Department of Education from 2002 to 2003 regarding the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or the Clery Act.
